AI receptionist for electricians
Many electrical calls are quote requests: panel upgrades, EV chargers, generators, remodel wiring. Those leads go to whoever calls back first. A few calls are genuine safety issues. Your answering setup needs to get the safety calls right and capture the quote requests completely.
What electrical callers need
- Safety calls: burning smell, sparking outlets, buzzing panels, a downed line. The receptionist should tell callers to stay away from the hazard and call 911 or the utility for downed lines, then notify you.
- Quote requests: EV charger installs, panel upgrades, generators, lighting. Capture address, panel age/amperage if known, photos by text if possible, and timeline.
- Small service calls: dead outlets, tripping breakers. Bookable.
- Builders and GCs: route to you or the office directly.
Must-haves checklist
- Custom intake questions per job type (EV charger: vehicle, garage or driveway, panel location).
- In-call or post-call texting so the caller can send photos of the panel or a link to book an estimate. Upfirst, Rosie (Scale and up) and NextPhone list in-call or post-call texting.
- VIP routing for contractors and repeat commercial clients.
- A written safety script. Don't rely on the AI's general knowledge. Spell out exactly what it should say.
- Follow-up. If you're bad at calling quote leads back, a service with built-in follow-up sequences (My AI Front Desk includes SMS and automations) may be worth more than the cheapest answering plan.
